• Local Catholics, Lutherans consider common heritage

    Catholic and Lutheran Christians from across the globe will commemorate together on Oct. 31, the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Reformation.  Here in the Diocese of Belleville, local Catholics and Lutherans will come together for a “Service of Common Prayer”.  The joint observance will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chester.

  • Lay Ministers Flock to Into My Vineyard Program

    At the kick-off session Sept. 16 the gym was nearly packed. Program assistant Dustin McSparin said there were 154 people at the session, about twice the number expected. Seventy parishes participated out of the 113 parishes in the diocese.
